Workshops
Reading, Rappin’
& Having Fun
“Reading Rappin’ & Having Fun” is an exciting educational workshop that supports differentiated instruction. It integrates hip-hop music, hand gestures and reading comprehension skills to reinforce learning.
Participants will find themselves singing and moving to the rhythmic beat 80% of the time while focusing on critical standardized reading skills such as main idea, supporting details, inference, context clues, and vocabulary.
A multitude of nonlinguistic representations will be covered in this highly energized, research-based workshop. Participants will be captivated the entire session. Teachers who are eager to reach their at-risk/unmotivated readers will find the various musical and kinesthetic strategies invaluable.
How to Publish a Book
It’s an interactive presentation where author Vincent Taylor thoroughly explains the publishing process from beginning to end. Students will have fun learning the 8 steps of publishing a book, while Vincent answers questions from ‘how books are placed in stores’ to ‘how much does an author get paid’. Finally, to add to the excitement, Cornbread the mascot will make a surprise visit.
Teaching Reading with a Nonlinguistic Twist
Educators will enjoy an interactive workshop, which focuses on reading strategies that engage their reluctant readers. This is achieved by focusing on the children’s true affinities.
Watch how critical reading standards are addressed using the nonlinguistic methodology to reinforce learning and to excite students academically. This workshop is favored by educators who understand that all children are not strong linguistically and each requires instruction that caters to their learning styles.
