Vincent Taylor - Children's author and Consultant
“Reading Rappin’ & Having Fun” is an exciting staff development workshop that supports differentiated instruction. It integrates hip-hop music, hand gestures and reading comprehension skills to reinforce learning. Participants will find themselves singing and moving to the rhythmic beat 80% of the time while focusing on critical standardized reading skills such as main idea, supporting details, inference, context clues, and vocabulary. A multitude of nonlinguistic representations will be covered in this highly energized, research-based workshop. Participants will be captivated the entire session. Teachers who are eager to reach their at-risk/unmotivated readers will find the various musical and kinesthetic strategies invaluable.
